If you have been paying attention to the news regarding jute and jute made goods then you must know that government of most of the countries are encouraging and advocating the use of jute made products by the people.

Excerpts of Recent Study and Reports:

According to a recent study by Kew’s Economic Botany Collection, a world renowned scientific society in UK, jute is one of the most sustaining natural fibers in the world other being flax, cotton, sisal. Moreover, jute can be grown in 4-6 months.

In an effort to step up exports, the jute industry is considering geographies such as West Asia and Eastern Europe. Exports currently account for about 20 per cent of the Rs 8,500-crore jute market in the country, said Mr Atri Bhattacharya, Secretary, National Jute Board and the Jute Commissioner of India.

“The industry is likely to clock over 16 per cent growth in exports to $350 million this year from about $300 million in 2011-12. This will be aided by the industry’s possible foray into new markets, ” Mr Bhattacharya said.

Bhattacharya also pointed out that jute is the fibre of the future since it is bio-degradable. Because of its environment friendly characteristics, the government and other international organizations have also been advocating and convincing the masses to use products made from jute.

It is not only the government organizations which are supporting jute but non government organizations, corporates and even some small private organizations are also participating in this green campaign.
